A little break

We took a little break today from all the hard work that weve been doing here on the farm.We went out to visit with a family that we met since weve moved here to Washington.

One of the highlights of todays visit was for sure the first ever horse ride. K and the young lady who lives there, T, made fast friends upon their first meeting and T came running over to see if K could ride her horse.

But you cant just jump on and ride. It takes a lot of preparation to ride a horse.

There was lots of pats and talking.

There was of course, grooming.

And whatever else that G could walk around and be in charge of.

But eventually, K did get on the horse. Candy is her name. And she is very, very sweet.

I was not at all brave enough to allow K to ride her alone....so T led her the entire time.

She was very gentle with her new rider.

J even got a turn.

And although G let me know that he was not happy that he wasnt allowed a turn...he did manage to keep himself occupied while the big kids had their first ever experience on a horse.

See? Hes showing me just how much dirt he was able to get in his boot.

His boots did get removed before he got in his seat for the trip home.

Playing in all that dirt was very tiring work.

And who knew that under all that dirt such bright and colorful toes existed?
