Mama's share

G's share
He saw me taking a picture of my veggies and so he had to set his all up and take a picture, too.
Moving right along.
Get K's invites out---check. Only after I had to take them all out of the SEALED envelopes and readdress them due to an error on the invitation.
Go to library---check. Got Grandma's book she requested. How she will find time to read it I have no idea. BUT, I did manage to get it. Maybe she will get up really super early to have some time by herself. I have yet to ever do that myself, but maybe she likes that idea.
Get big kids studies prepared---check. I am so up on history in the 1800's right now I could have an actual conversation about it. And I have prepared worksheets to prove it!
Have laundry all done---check. My sorter is totally empty. A very rare site indeed. Of course, by the time we leave Sat, I am sure there will be a few things in there.
All the cooking---taking place today and tomorrow. With the exception of the yogurt. I will do that Friday. That needs a little more attn than I can give it right now.
Tie up tomatoes---???? If it would ever stop raining, I may be able to get out there and get that done. The ground is so wet right now walking thru the garden is not a good idea.
So, things are getting done, mama is preparing mentally as things are getting done, and I am ready to go and have a great time.
These things seem to be popping up all over the place! Everywhere I turn around I see a new one that I have recently written or better yet think of something that I need to add.

My S and I are going on a trip! A TRIP. Can you believe it? Just the two of us. The kids will be with grandmas. Note the plural. They will be tag teaming. Whatever it takes, right!
I have foods to make. Snacks to bake. And laundry to fold.
I still have a few days yet to make all this happen. Departure is scheduled for the weekend. Currently we are having about 90 degree weather here at home. What better way to spend our vacation then to go to a place that is also offering the high 90's and a chance of rain every day. The apple doesnt fall too far from the tree, huh?
At any rate, I have to say I am a little..hmmm...nervous? No, not the right word. Unsettled? Nah. Anxious. Thats a better fit. This will be our first time away from the little guy, both of us at the same time. The big kids will be fine. They will get spoiled and be helpers. I have no worries there. The little guy? He's a mama's boy. He's not a huge advocate for change. Actually, he's quite a creature of habit. Likes things the same. All the time. Likes to know what to expect. I worry that this will be stressful for him. And me.
So, while I look forward to the break. Yes, I do. I also, have a little, tiny bit of reservation. And even tho I am pretty sure it is a totally normal feeling...it doesnt make it any easier to deal.
Help me out...tell me you had a story just like this. That Im not the only one.
The backdrop of the story goes something like this:
It is appx 10:40 pm
I am sitting on the couch.(Okay, actually half slouching, half laying) Engaging in my normal not wanting to move from my cozy spot routine. Stretching my arms and legs just a little bit longer...
S is already up and moving towards the laundry room to lock doors and turn off lights.
Me: Whose morning is it to get up?
S: (Very fast like) Yours.
Me: Are you sure? I was thinking it was yours. Didn't I just get up?
S: (I can see the wheels just a turnin) I have Sunday. That means you have Friday.
Me: Oh. (Looking at him and sending him telepathic messages to say that I really think thats a bad idea. Friday, how did I end up with Friday anyway?)
S: I can take Friday if you want me to. I dont mind.
Me: (Hey, that mind stuff really works) No, no. I got it. Thats okay. Thanks tho.
Then I get up from my super cozy spot and head towards the kids bedrooms to poke my head in and check on sleeping angels. All good on the homefront. I move along to get myself ready for bed. I fall fast asleep so that I am ready to awake in the morn. It is Friday after all. My morn to get up with the little bundle of energy, otherwise known as G.
I have to say that we have been really pleased with our share this year. There has been a huge amount of most everything with the exception of peas(which my husband is very grateful for). We have had so much lettuce that this past Wed when it was time for a veggie pick up, S came home and said he tried to get the smaller of the lettuce bunches! I cant think of many more ways to eat all this lettuce. I still have some out in the other fridge.
Anyone have any good kohlrabi recipes? Yep, got some of those waiting in line, too.
And heads and heads of cabbage. I had never had Arrowhead cabbage till this season. It is supposed to be one of the sweetest out there.
