Over the past few days we have had our first harvest from our garden.
We pulled in green beans.
At a whopping weight of:
5.875 oz for those of us who prefer more accurate measurements.
We got a handful of pickling cukes.
Which when laid end to end, look like this.
And weigh this much: (6.25 oz)
We also picked one Suyo Long cuke. It is an Asian, burpless variety. The description says that when you trellis them they will grow straight. I use a trellis. Im not sure that I would call this straight.
This guy weighs: (4.625 oz)
In news that is equally as delightful....donut peaches are at the farmers market. I look forward to these EVERY SINGLE SUMMER. These are one of those kinda fruits that you just cant walk into any ol grocery store and have them taste anything like they do when they are grown locally. Believe me. Inquire at your local farmers market next time youre there....they are SO worth it.
To end our Sunday staying within the tasty things theme, K and a friend made this yummy brownie pizza. You want some? We have plenty.

Everything looks delicious!
First harvest! YAY! There's just nothing like the first harvest. Congratulations. But um, how much did that brownie pizza weigh? That's gonna bug me all day long.
Yea! I love when food comes from the backyard!
I'm watching my watermelons grow exponentially every day. Can't wait to put them in the fridge.
Yum! That's quite the haul, dear friend. I love how you showed us pics of how much they all weighed...very considerate of you! :)
Those fruits and veggies look equally delish as that brownie.
Yay for the growing season!
Excellent weighing, you make me so proud. ♥ ♥ ♥
Did I tell you that I gave Jim the ok to cease egg weighing after 7/03, the hens' laying anniversary? It's a big move, I know, and I'm not sure I'm entirely comfortable with it, but I think it's time to let go. :-)
Um, those very pretty cukes were not end to end. They were side to side. But they were extremely pretty. And tasty, too, I bet.
You keep sayin' that about those peaches, but I just don't know...
Tell K "nice job" on the brownie pizza. And that it would've been just a bit tastier if she had put some yummy whipped cream on top. :-)
Hey, your cukes need a shave!
Hey, I gave you an award http://backtobasicliving.com/blog/honest-scrap/ And don't tell me how much you hate that stuff - I just wanted to share the love. Plus I want to see what you post when you accept it ;-)
I'll take some pizza!
I heard Missouri peaches will be here soon and my wife is looking forward to canning some.
That's a REALLY cool electronic scale. ...but is that postal official? :-)
Farmer Jen: Why, thank you. I hope it all continues to produce well.
Penny: Ha! I didnt even get to weigh the brownie pizza....
CeeCee: I love it, too. Right now I have little, bitty fuzzy watermelons.
farm mom: I am very considerate. Most of the time! :) And a girl has to write all that stuff down. All those weights and such.
sugarcreekstuff: Yay for cukes and brownies.
danni: WHAT? Cease egg weighing? Im not sure how comfortable I am with that either. But, like you said, it was their laying anniversary. And pretty soon you will have all kinds of yummy produce to be weighing and recording..like berries, and cukes, and zucchini, and potatoes, and peppers, and.....
And youre right. They were side to side. Not end to end. Thanks for pointing that out. Thats a true friend. But, yes. They were very tasty.
Sigh....those peaches. Market on Sat. Peach stand here I come.
Warren. We shave them in the bath.
Wandering owl: Thanks for coming by! Happy to see you. I just cant seem to get enough of those donut peaches. And the thing is that they are only on for like 2-3 weeks.
Anon: Dont you LOVE my scale? But you make a good point. Im sure that it is NOT postal official. And I tend to mail a lot of packages out WEST so it may behoove me to look into a postal scale as well.
You are kidding me, right? You weighed everything except the peaches and the brownie pizza, and put it all in ONE blog post and didn't think I'd notice?? OK, I guess there's no use crying about it now. Just tell me how much Darby weighs. That'll have to do. And then I'll figure out how much it'll cost to have her shipped here......
