We went to Mim's house yesterday to celebrate her oldest sons birthday. Of course, before the official festivities began we had to get our chicken fix.
They were all very happy to see us. Can't you tell?
G was so happy that he was clapping. Here he was saying, "oh my goodness".
They were all in the chicken tractor when we arrived. And I had to resort to finding extra feed off the ground until Mim said that I could get more feed from the bucket....then S went and got me a big ol cup full. G was totally enthralled with the idea of feeding them.
He loved it. He couldnt get enough of it. So much so that he ended up IN the chicken tractor. A kid after my own heart, I say. Good thing I brought extra clothes.....
This is a family affair.
This is Rooster. He and I are long time friends. I think maybe he remembered our last visit where I tried to show him that the grass IS in fact greener on the other side. He came up to get a closer look...and to have a snack all by himself!
He didnt even get upset with me when I had to turn my attention from him to yell at my kids.....
No, G, you may not climb up that hill by yourself....you must wait for your brother to come back down and get you.
K and I managed to sneak in and pick up a couple. Look how sweet. If I had a place to keep them here at home....Mim may have been short a couple chickens.
Im just sayin.

hehe~farm life looks intersting
whoohoo! Look at you, you budding chicken wrangler you! (Don't tell mim, but I think they like you better anyway!) ;)
Now Come On...I'm sure you could find room for just a couple. :)
The neighbors don't have to know.
Just make sure you don't take a loud mouthed rooster is all.
That's not nice Angie! She's the fun Aunt, of course she's spoiling them that's why it seems like they like her better. It was great to have you guys here and fun, fun for the kids to get to hang out. I did do a head count in my coop this morning, just in case. ;0)
Aw, what a fun day. It was awfully nice of mim to trust, er, I mean, share her pretty chickens with you. I can't believe how all three of your kids took to them like ducks to water (that was for you, Angie). :-)
What I want to know is: what did S. think? Did he hold them, too?
Won't be long, you'll have some of your own--next spring! Oh, spring comes much earlier in GA than it does where you live now. :)
Pick up a nice winter read to prepare you:
Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens. It's the chicken owners bible.
What kind of chickens are those? Your little one in that run is so adorable.
I love that last pic of you and your beautiful girl holding the chickens.
What fun! And K looks a WHOLE LOT like you!
✖包子✖: Thanks for coming. I think farm life would be great fun!
Angie: HA! Did you say that out loud? I wont tell Mim, I promise.
Greywolf: Shhhhh...dont tell everyone. When I get chickens here we have to keep it under wraps.
Mim: SEEMS like they like me better???
Danni: Yes, I know. It was nice of her to let me hang out with the chickens. S enjoyed them as well. There were a couple times when he was holding 2 at a time. Of course, later that evening he and Mim's brother had to give her a hard time and ask if we were gonna be having any roasted chicken along with all the hot dogs that we were roasting......
sugarcreekstuff: She has buff orpingtons. I think 15 of them in total. Including one roo. G loved being in the chicken tractor. Even tho he kept whacking his head on the top of it every time he stood up! I think he woulda stayed in there all night. Sadly, it was time for the birds to go in the coop.
Kathryn and Ari: You think she looks like me, huh? People tell me that all the time. Its harder for me to see that since I am with her all the time maybe. Our little guy, G, looks alot like her....especially when she was his age.
Nice pics. Can't tell that's your daughter.
Looks like you all were having a good time!
Oh that last photo looks so sweet. Looks like a fun chick visit.
