Checkin out the farm

As you know, I have been to Critter Farm before. My family, on the other hand, had not. This was their first time getting to experience the sights and sounds of real farm life!

S had a few firsts this time around. His first time handling a freshly laid egg.

And, of course, his first time in a pair of rubber boots. Can you look any better in a pair of rubber boots?

G was totally in awe of the chickens....even if it was a little chilly out here when the sun was going down.

Here they come!

G looking around happily.

He was very intrigued by Roopert. I think he was very fascinated that such a little bird could make such a loud noise.

And I am convinced that K is a real natural. Or, maybe, it had something to do with her great teacher! Either way she had a great time being with the chickens and feeding them and helping out with random chicken tasks.

G became fast friends with Danni from the first time he spoke with her on the phone many, many months ago. So, when we arrived at her place, it didnt surprise me at all that he loved being near her. No matter if they were headed to the chicken coop to see the flock or exploring and finding great, squirmy bugs.

And look. There were still a few of these hanging around. The bright, red berries looked so happy when the skies were a little gray.

Oh what fun! What about J? I know, he was inside with Roxy, right. That big slug looking thing was gross. yuck.

I really don't think there is a way to make those kind of rubber boots look. Maybe if they were heels? LOL

Just catching up on your blog. That is too funny that you up and decided to go. How fun, especially for the kids. I am a planner too a point but I can be very spontaneous. Enjoy your time on the farm!

I've loved reading about your trip from both blogs. Yay, you and your crazy spontaneity!

It's been a blast, living vicariously through you while I suffer through flu & toothache.

Giant slugs! She really pulls out the stops when it comes to the creepy critters, doesn't she?

Ethan would have been all over that thing. *gak*

K. really is a natural - she didn't hesitate, even once the entire time, to just jump in and help me with every little thing that needed doing. Just wait until you all get your own farm...she's going to be in heaven.

I love G's sunny and bright face, in that one picture, enjoying the chickens - he was so totally into it. He is going as big of a help as Kaylin, I'm thinking, when you all get your own place.

Mim: J was inside with Roxy. But he dd take a tour of the property later....with the "guys".

Kathryn and Ari: That as a huge slug. I actually saw more thanm one of those there.

Country Girl: We had a great time on the farm. The kids especially enjoyed the idea of everything being so last minute.

Farmer Jen: We did have a great time. And I have to say that I love those chickens.

inadvertentfarmer: Ha! Nope, no salting slugs this time.

Greywolf: Nah. She didnt make him pick those up. Shes too nice to do that.

Claire: Hi. Thanks for stopping bye. Everyone should be so lucky as to make a trip to Oregon. Its a very pretty place.

Gnightgirl: Yay, Me. Me and my spontaneity. Im glad that you are feeling better. Despite that fact that you didnt get the secret lemony booze concoction.

Angie: Ha! Yeah, she does, huh? First mice, now slugs...what next?

Danni: I have to agree with you on this K and G will be a huge help on the farm. Amd Im sure that once we get some donks J will never go inside again. He loved them.
