As the school year comes to a close we were invited to have lunch with J the other day.
The little guy and I packed up a picnic lunch and headed over. What was supposed to be held outside had to be moved indoors since it seems that since we moved here the desert hasnt been very deserty.
We could pretty much sit anywhere in the school that we wanted to.
We decided to sit in the gym to enjoy our picnic. Clearly, many others had the same idea.
We were pleasantly surprised to look up to the stage and find some performers.
The fifth grade marimba band was just playing away.
G was loving this and was dancing while he was eating. It was a great time. I love being able to see what my kids see all day.
And G loves his big brother.

Hey, I got to hear a bit of that saucy marimba band, too! How fun. I love picnics - and what a great way to avoid the rain. I know about this. Avoiding the rain. :-)
I bet G was so proud to be there with J, he could hardly sit still.
This was a great way for you to get to see the "inner workings" of J's new school too!
So do tell...how many little girls said "Hiiiiiii J....." while you were there? :-) :-)
Yes, avoiding the rain...it will clear up soon. We have a marimba band too but ours doesn't have all the fancy moves that add so much to the performance. I love the smiles on their faces.
You have the BEST kids frugalmom...and I'm not just sayin' this time.
Great sound to that band! And I really liked the way they got up to dance in the middle of it. Looked like they were having so much fun. It's really nice that you and G got to visit J's school like that.
I love that Marimba band! They really looked like they were loving it, too. What fun. I was dancing with them.
The picture of J and G walking together is sweet. I'm sure J was really proud to have the two of you there.
I bet the desert is happy you showed up with a little rain.
We got out of school two weeks ago, and not a day too soon for me.
I love picnics.
Sounds like you guys had a wonderful day.
danni: Wasnt that marimba band great? I have a message in to get it on cd. G loved the music. And he had a great time being at J's school. And I think J loved showing him around and introducing him to all his friends.
goatgirl:Awww...thanks, goatgirl. I think my kids are pretty great. But its always nice to hear someone else say it. :-) I loved it in the middle of the song when the kids got up and started dancing...and such huge smiles they had on their faces!
Farmer jen: It was a great afternoon. The boys had a really fun time. And I love being able to go into the schools to see what my kids see all the time.
Penny: I think J did enjoy having us there. He even showed me his clean desk. :-)
pollys path: It seems most kids are out by now. Our last day is not till Friday and that seems so late to me.
