The weekend weather was beautiful. Highs in the 70's, bright sunshine, and very little wind. Perfect.
It was the ideal time to pull out these muck boots that I have had stowed away for over 2 years. My father in law got them for me for Christmas a couple years ago. I have been saving them for this very day. The day when I can say that I have my own farm.
And what better way to break them in than to get all my seedlings in the ground.
Seedlings you ask? How did I ever have time to plant and care for those in the midst of my big move? Well, I didnt. Thankfully, I have a fantastically, wonderful friend named danni. She planted them and cared for them and talked to them. Just like I would have. And then when I got here to Washington, she brought them to me. Wasnt that so super nice of her? Yes, it was.
So, while I got all those pretty little seedlings in the ground...
S went to work on another portion of the garden. He was cultivating it for me so it was all ready for more seeds to be sown.
And look. Thats my boot print.
The soil here is so amazing that you just kinda sink right into it.
I found something new in the garden AGAIN. Last time it was a lone asparagus. This time it was a bunch of cilantro plants! YUM! I love cilantro.
Planting seedlings and seeds isnt at all complete unless you make sure to scatter some of these happy flowers through out your garden.
We also used this time to clean out the hay storage area.
I thought I would save the hay that was left here and store it in one of my spare barn stalls and use it for the chicken run. (Which is to come later.)
So, it needed to be moved. This bale decided it didnt want to cooperate.
But ma showed it who was boss.
And this is what happens when you attempt to put a hay bale on the dolly that clearly was missing its twine.
We got it all done tho. And look how pretty it looks now. Almost like its just waiting to be filled up again...
While ma and I cleaned up the hay area, K got a tractor lesson.
She was a natural and took to it quite quickly.
And shes off. I wonder if she knows shes a farm girl now.

Do you recognize these pups?
No? Well, here. Lets get them out of that great big truck for you.
How about now? This weekend, Sarah, over at Between You, Me, and the Fencepost contacted me and said that they were gonna be passing through my area. Then she asked if I wanted to meet up for lunch...or coffee...(Shhh...I didnt tell her that I dont drink coffee), but I did suggest a place that we could meet. And it just so happened that it all worked out. So everyone, meet Sarah. Sarah, everyone.
She is so very sweet and it took me back in time to when I lived in the south, to hear her rich, southern accent.
Carlie Jean was the first one to come over and meet G.
And as much as G enjoyed the pups, I have to say that he REALLY enjoyed that great big truck. He got to have a tour, courtesy of Sarahs husband, Malcolm. And just so you know, according to G, a tour is where you get to see something all over, but someone else shows it to you.
And by looking at him, I think the tour went pretty darn well.
The best part of that tour tho? If you asked him...his answer was the same every time. Pulling the cord for that really loud horn.
And then second best? That other horn that was on the steering wheel. He said, they had 2 horns, mama. Thats more than what we have in our van.
After the very successful tour, we all decided to load up in the one horned van. Paris really wanted to ride with G in his seat.
And go back to my place so the pups could get out and stretch their legs.
Darby, was just itchin to meet some new friends.
This whole time I thought it was just Darby that liked to run in circles.
But nope, those 3 pups of Sarah's like to do that, too. I think really they were trying to get away from Darby. But they were very sweet and never said that out loud.
They did stop just for a minute to visit with me.
And when it was time for Sarah to go....Paris made sure to let G know that she was really going to miss him. (What you cant see in that picture is that S had a roast beef sandwich in his hand. I cant tell who wanted a bite more. G or Paris)
Thanks for stopping to visit with us, Sarah!
Not this kind of dirty, tho.
And not dirty by doing this.
No. This kinda dirty. Llama bean dirty.
The previous owners had 3 llamas. I know, right? How cool is that? I get my farm AND it had llamas on it before....
Well, let me just say, they left behind lots and lots of piles of beans.
So, I decided to get my trusty green wagon.
Fill it up with those beans.
And take all those beans and put them in the garden.
After one load tho, I decided that my little shovel I had just wasnt cutting it. That said, we decided to run some errands.
I totally need to just buy a great big box of PVC parts. They kept G busy for quite some time.
So did these mini shower doors. They were quickly made into a drive thru restaurant and G was asking the people walking by what kind of ice cream they would like. He was a very friendly ice cream guy.
This shovel came home with me.
And, OH BOY, was it ever easier to load up llama beans with that great big shovel.
Once that wagon was full I then had to go get the tractor. Which meant I had to back it out of the shed. (I hate driving in reverse.)
But I did it. And didnt even hit anything. So, off I go to load up the wagon.
The garden should be fantastic this season!
