Entry #14
I am thankful for my oldest child. I am thankful for her beautiful smile. When it shows up even during the most trying times. There are times a plenty where we butt heads and expect each other to give and it just doesn't happen. These are the times that she helps me to remember that she is still a child, even tho she so desperately wants to be an adult. An 11 year old going on 30....sometimes in the midst of all the gifts she possesses, I have to remind myself that underneath it all she is still just 11. Still growing up(even tho I don't want her to!) Still trying out new things. Still making mistakes. That last one is the hardest for me to get past. As mature as she is...I think at times I expect her to know what all the right things are. And how to do them. I am thankful that she allows me to make mistakes as well. Because what else can we do, but learn from them.

Excellent post! I have the same issue with my 4 year old and the opposite issue with my 10 year old. My 4 year old acts like he is 16 and sometimes I forget he is not! My 10 year old acts like she is 6 and I tend to still think and treat her like a normal 10 year old. It's difficult to say in the least...
boogiemum: It is one I work on every single day. Very challenging.
